Woodworking

Anyone pretty good working with wood that can come over and check out this stand I bought, see if there is anything I need to do to better it?

Thanks,
Chris

Just want to make sure the stand is reliable, if I need to reinforce it anywhere, plus recommendation on a way to place some trim.

'reliable' can be a relative term. Was it made as an aquarium stand? Do you have any reason to doubt its reliability? Post some pics here and I willl help you out.

It was custom made for this tank. It seems to have a bit of water damage at the bottom but all that is is a bottom. It doesnt look to have any use structurally speaking.

Will this be an issue? I was going to put a piece of plywood on top so the sump can rest it.

You could use 3/4" birch or red oak. If I were you, i'd also add a support down the center to avoid bowing when you put your sump in there.

Alright another question I had was with the current trim, the top of the stand isn't covered and you can see the particleboard used to skin it. I was thinking of getting some new trim and putting it on the top. Somewhere I can rest my hands when looking at the tank.

Something like this:

Would this be possible? Here's what mine looks like:
