Yup I can separate them if I need to do so. They are both fairly small still and they will be the only clowns in the tank. So I am hoping for a smooth transition. We will see though.
Premnas are not like Amphiprion species when it come to pairing up. Equally sized little maroons will be like two male betta fish - they fight until one is dead. You simply can't make a pair with equally sized maroons.
If you want to make a pair of those you need to separate them until one is two to three times the size than the other. You can get that by putting the one you want to be female into a large tank while the other goes into a breeder box. The one in the breeder box gets fed minimally while the other one gets stuffed to the gills.
