working w/ plexi, and reef safe paint

2 questions...

How hard is it to work with plexi? I want to build something similar to an overflow box. I'm not worried about the cutting, but I don't want the siliconing to come out looking horrible.

If I'm able to get the overflow boxes built, I'd like to paint them (either blue or black) - can someone recommend some reef-safe paint?

I have used Krylon spray paint in the past with no (apparent) ill effects.

So assuming a glass tank and some type of plastic/acrylic overflow, what do you all recommend for attaching the two? I've read that silicone won't work with acrylic...

SkiFletch had mentioned there's a new silicone designed for use in acrylic. I guess it comes in a red tube and is available at Home Depot/Lowes.
