I am on the hunt for a new camera and figure why not try to find one that will take some sweet pictures of my tank as well as everyday stuff. So with a budget of about $200 whats the best thing out there?

With that budget, it will behard to get a new camera that can take sweet pics of your tank. I would go for a used Canon S3 IS if you cant afford more.

If your looking to get into photography, nothing is better than an SLR where you can change lenses. If you use a point and shoot you will quickly get frustrated with it because of the lens limitations. On your budget you could probably get a 35mm SLR with a starter lens.

IMO an SLR is the only wat to get "sweet pictures."

Do not get a Kodak. A lot of people are tempted to get Kodak cameras because they arecheap and large numbers of megapixels attached to them, but the pictures are full of noise and just suck. I got a Cannon A95 and its alright, very slow and I have found my self frustrated with the limitations of the lense, I just bought "bayonet" lenses for it, so I will soon see if they are worth anything, but saving up and buying a more versitile camera may end up saving you money in the end.

Edit: Also incase you don't know already ignore what ever the number with digital zoom is. Digital zoom is absolutely worthless; a waste of time and image quality. Its something you can do on your computer 10X better by cropping and resampling in Adobe or Irfanview.
