worm (hair like)

I have a worm (hair like) coming out of a piece of liverock, it comes out about 2" to 4" and will go back in.

anyone have an idea what this is?

what do you mean by "hair like?" do you mean that it's fuzzy? or do you mean it's thin like hair? what color?

Could be either a chaetopterid/spionid worm or vermetid snail. Both are harmless but can breed prolifically.

There are a lot of other choices besides 2 types of worms & vermetids. A decent picture would settle the matter.
