Worm ID

Just a little curious about what it is, but I noticed this creature on my LR. At first I thought it was some kind of spiderweb but it's actually many tendrils sent out by this invertibrate. They are long and translucent and basically are cast adrift or attach themselves to opposite rocks and then slowly get retracted with detritus and foodstuffs attached to them.

Could anyone tell me what this is?

Sounds like a vermetid snail... I started off with one large one on my LR now I have millions of small ones. A bit of a pest but harmless.

My first guess would be vermetid also. There are polychaetes & other organisms that also form feeding mucus nets but compared to vermetids they're quite rare in tanks. This column on Reefkeeping is an excellent source of info http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rs/index.php
