worm problem

I have a 55gal reef tank and I have lots of worms in my tank. I believe they are called briskel worms and I have heard they are good and bad. Could someone please inform me of them or they me how to get rid of them (I do have some large ones).

Thanks.

The need to be rid of them would of course depend on what genus/species you have. For the majority of worms that we find doing well in our systems, they are a vital part of the tank's clean up crew. Limited only by food sources, which means their sudden removal could be detrimental to your water quality or having something not so good take advantage of a sudden increase in nutrients. I have a number of species shown within the relevant section of my hitch hiker pages that I hope will be of use to you.

I used that guide and found out what I have is fireworms do you know of anything that will get rid of them or do I just need to clean out my rocks? Thanks for the Guide by the way is was very useful.

As with any worm that can successfully breed in an aquarium, getting rid of them is not going to be easy. You might try finding some worm traps as well as picking them out as you find them. But do not use your hands or even gloved hands as they are called fire worms for a good reason.
