worms

I have a new saltwater tank, 52 gal., it's been up for about two months. The second month everything began to die. I have spotted several wormlike, fishhook shaped "things" crawling very quickly all over my anemone. My dealer said i may have bristle worms but i looked them up and this doesn't look like those pictures. They seemed segmented and not curved. Mine are brownish and have a continual curve to the bottom end. What could these be and how do I get rid of them before all my scavengers die, i no longer have any live fish. Thanks for any help on this.

We need pictures for any hope of ID... I've no idea of "spotted wormlike fishhook things".

Your fish probably died for the same reason mine did... too many, too fast, without quarentine. I'll be starting up again shortly, but much more methodical this time.

Took my anemone to my dealer, he identified the "creatures" as copepods. Says they are normal and not dangerous to my tank. So i still have no solution. Have put no new fish/scavengers in tank for two weeks. Poor tank looks like an abandoned brown algae wasteland. Ph-8.2, Ammonia-0, Nitrite-0, Nitrate-20, Spec. Grav.-1.020.

The copepods you have are a very good sign. They are beneficial to the system and present no problems. No worries. :) As for the algae, you are experiencing a diatom bloom common as new tanks cycle and stabilize. Again, very normal. Don't be surprised if it is followed by a green hair algae bloom. They should subside with time and proper husbandry. Continue to use RO/DI water if you aren't already. ;)

Your salinity is awfully low. I would raise it very slowly by topping of with saltwater over the next few days. Target 1.026 for salinity. The use of a refractometer is highly recommended. ;)

umm copepods look nothing like fish hooks. :) sounds more like amphipods. look something like this?

you may want to increase your SG to 1.025-1.026 for sure. another problem i see, is your tank is to new for an anemone. you are probably still having some things balance out like the calcium and alkalinity.

i dont see what kind of lights you have. that could have played a part in it.
