Worried about my hammer

THe other morning I wake up to my hammer coral all closed up, and it pulled itself WAY into its shell/skeleton. I didnt think to much of it, sometimes it closes up a little if a snail falls on it or something...I come home in the afternoon and its even furthur into the skeleton. -To the point where it looks like a white skeleton in the tank.

Today I did my usuall weekend tank cleaning, tank was a little cloudy nothing out of the ordinary, now its 100% cloudy and the hammer is still shut WAY up. could the thing have died and causing the cloudiness? It looked perfectly healthy a week ago ???

ohh yeah, tank peram's are great and just did a water change a week ago.

only other thing I can think of, I just replaced my bulb. Its under a 20k 175mh, maybe its a little to much for it? IDK? To intense? the bulb was replaced about a week ago, and the hammer just now reacted.

Right now, yes, you can see the skeleton.

edit:
a buddy of mine suggested a spike in my water temps caused the issue. I had picked up some CF to suppliment my 20k bulb, and kicked them on for a day, and then left all day and come home and the tank was almost hot. -very warm.

thats his thinking.

Check your alkalinity.

Ah---just read about the heat. That will do it. Heat and light together = coral bleaching.

It may recover if you baby it. I have a fox that got badly battered, and the last few mouths are now setting up shop atop the old skeleton.

Alk is fine.

So you think its most likely gone?
I can get another no problem. I just really really loved this one. Its HUGE. Maybe 7" long, about 8.5" when opened.

I just got home from work for lunch, I think its a gonner :(

You can also see how cloudy my water is.

here is what it used to look like when I first got it. It would expand way more than this at times.
