I have personally seen minimal. As a matter a fact i think some butterflys and angel in a well stocked healthy reef might encourage growth in the way of trimming a shrub would allow it to grow thick. I saw a Palmers milli acro that could have been mistaken as a ball of teal fur. The owner said the trick was to let the butterfly nip at it occasionally. I have been curious to try this in my tank recently as well.
Its not the bite damage that is so bad it's the fact that the buggers will make the rounds "tasting the sps "then the corals will not extend their polys and die from the stress and slow starvation.
I'd agree with grant. I just rolled the dice and got a flame angel and from what I've researched they just nip and polyps don't stay out. I'll have to see once he's settled into DT after the QT period
