Worth my money?

So the local LFS I work at got in a pair of true percula clowns today. The female is 4" and the male is 3.5". They priced them out at $50 and I get 40% off. Is it worth it or should I just wait it out and get something cooler. Currently I have a LT that is 7" in diameter for them to host but that seems a little small. What do you think?

$50 for 2 adult true perc's is a pretty sweet deal. But it's really up to you, by posting this, it sounds like you're on the fence about getting them. I'd say get the clownfish you really want, even if you have to pass on these.

$25 for a 4inch female and male, come on thats a easy call foreal!!

If you're looking for a pair that will breed, I'd confirm that they are spawning, or pass on this pair. It takes a long time for perc's to get close to that size. They may be beyond breeding age. Regardless, I think that's a great price for the fish. Like the others have said though, make sure you get the fish you want, regardless of price. It's a long term commitment, because these fish live for a long time.

I'm not too concerned with breeding them although, it would be cool and would help recoup some of the cost of setting up my 125. I was originally thinking of getting four skunk clowns once I setup the 125 and move my two rbta out of the 180. The perculas would end up in my 55 as the only fish besides a single green chromis

+2
no "deal" is a true deal when your only "settling" for it....considering that you'll only be adding 1 pair of clowns to your tank, I couldn't agree more with t4zalews regarding getting the pair you "really want"....good luck either way :)

Its too bad we can have more than 1 pair per tank. That's why clownfish decisions are the toughest. so many cool fish

Another thing to consider is that this perc pair may not like your LTA and never go in it. There are a limited number of clowns that really like LTAs for some reason. If you were getting them specifically for the LTA this might be something to think about.

I decided to pass on this pair and save my money for an achilles tang. As for my lta hosting it has had about 7 different clowns in it between me babysitting friends fish and 2 of my own that didn't survive a tank move.

If in doubt leave it.

If you have to think about it, it seams like you deep down have some other clowns in mind ;=) or??
There will be other clowns offered, so wait untill you see the perfect pair.
I did a impulse purchase like this once and regreated it... patience is key
