I was wondering whether a small clam 2", would alright in a 30g. It will have a pretty open subtarte area for it to be on. The lighting is a 6500K, 250w MH with 40w actinic. What clam would be good? I am working on getting my alk. and calcium up to the required levels with 2 part additives. Any replies are welcomed :)

Well sure.
So long as your water parameters were good and you had enough circulation and the proper foods.
You have enough light.

I currently have four different clams in my 30. See my thread or look at my gallery. It should be fine but just watch your water temp. with that much lighting. Good Luck!

Personally I would go with a crocea unless you have a larger tank you can move the clam to when (not if) it outgrows the 30G.

Smaller tanks and smaller clams in combination will require more monitoring and you'll need to be feeding significant quantites of phyto for the small clam.

Can certainly do it but plan on the extra time.

If you have kept clams before for an extended period of time, a crocea is a good long term 30gal resident.

If you have not kept clams before start with a Hippopus, Derasa, or Squamosa. The Derasa and Squamosa will outgrow the 30 but can easily be traded later or you can always buy a larger tank ;)
