i got this from a LFS for twenty bucks and it just looked so nice that i couldent pass it up.( i was in looking for some sps) this is my first clam ( it came attached to a rock ) i think its a crocea because it has the smooth shell and is well bored into a chunk of rock. i add phyto every few days for the tank is there anything else it might need.

its opening alot more than when it was in the LFS and seems to be doing well ( i've had it for about a week)

here it is

yes it is a crocea...I am not familiar with T5 lighting..but I do know that croceas need more light than other clams. I would reccomend MH for this clam but that is my opinion/suggestion. They live off of light moreso than anything else.

he is about 8-10 " from the bulbs so i don't think it will be a problem, if he starts to go down hill i will find it a new home with better lighting.

moon pod has had sucess with clams under t5's and my acro's are doing well and holding there color. but i am sure some one would take this off my hands for what i paid for it if the need be. the clam is about 3.5" long

I hope your clam will do well. However, often the first sign of any troble is a dead clam.
Good luck

It'll be fine. My 20 odd clams are doing just fine under T5s. Admittedly my sps growth is at a pathetically slow rate, but they do grow as do the clams. Certainly at that height under T5s they'll be fine. At least they will be assuming tek reflectors. Personally I'd congratulate you b/c I think that's a very nice looking clams for 20 bux.

Excellent Deal!

Your Clam will do just fine with 4 T5 of 54W!

I'll say more than that.
T5 are just starting now in America, in Germany they're working good for long time and with huge success with SPS and clam keepers.

My friend had T5 with some amazing growth out of his SPS , mostly Acros, Hydnopora, M.digitata and M.capriconis and clams.
He had 8X54W lamps.

i got it from reef collection ( i think thats the name) its by golden west college by the del taco. off gram i think.

and yes i am using the SLS reflectors i am thinking of taking my tek light hood apart and building a canopy and adding 2 more bulbs.

heck yeah this would of cost me 80+ down the street. but there stock always seems thin. if they had acro's they would have all my buisness.

yeah tongs will rip you off. I just went down to jeffs exotic fish in Gardena and picked up a 8" derasa for $65. There similar to the reef collection but about 30 mins farther for me and they keep it pretty well stocked. The fish collection in Orange is supposed to have alot of acros decently priced.

Great looking clam! Great deal too! I like the fact that it came attached to rock. That's a bonus because it will be easier to place.

where is fish collection at ? i may go there tomorow. do they sell frags or only colonys ?

Go to fishcollection.com they have the address there. I haven't been there yet. My friend from work says they have allot of nice colonies there. They should have frags too, because he trades frags in for colonies sometimes. There is another place in Hawaiian Gardens, if you take the 605 north and get off on Carson st. and go right. Go for about 1-2 miles, on the left behind the KFC thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a little s#%t hole called Carson tropical fish. They sell allot of frags for cheap. He trades allot so thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s usually a good supply of frags there.

sweeeeet, thanks for then info. i might see if he wants to trade with me. i just got done fragging this piece for the frag swap
