Keeping a Tomini or Kole Tang in a 55gallon tank untill I would upgrade to a 90g in January?

get a smaller one and you should be fine. they are a little more passive than other tangs and I have seen it done many times before, all with good success.

Yes that should be ok just get a small specimen

6 months in a 55g is ok. I would get a 120, great dimensions.

Are you 100% positive you are upgrading in Jan? I've been planning to upgrade for years and life and bills keep getting in the way, I already have the tank/stand ready to go but it'll be another 6 months at least before it's running. I would wait until you have the new tank and use the 55 as a qt instead. I'm also getting one of those two tangs, I can't make up my mind though. I really like koles but the tomini is a little flashier.
