Would this inverter generator work? CLaims safe for electronics.

Found one locally lightly used for pretty cheap that I'm tempted. I know it only has like a 5hour run time at 900 watts, but if somethings happened I'll be there to top it off.

Likely would only be used to run my panworld return pump and maybe a heater though it only is needed in winter here.

Would be far more attractive than the like $1000 setups I see folk usually advocate. (I'd be more apt to just try to make do with a big UPS and rely on the gyres and skimmer for sump rather than the big panworld)

We don't typically have multiple day outages, a few hours at best, but I had one right when I first got the tank setup so it's been on my mind.

I have one, it is surprisingly quiet and has enough power to run a pancake compressor. It should do fine for the tank. You can also link two of them together. Mine starts easy and runs well.

What's the altitude you're at in Colorado? If higher up, the thin air might affect the performance of the generator.

What electronics do you need to run with it? When you are out of power, just the basics need to be run, no controllers or the like. This one should work fine. Heaters and pumps should be good.

Regardless of what any of them say, you will need a VERY high end generator to make sure that there are no surges so that really sensitive stuff can be run on them.

As long as it's an inverter as opposed to a regular generator, it should work just fine. You can even go a slightly cheaper route like I did. I bought a power inverter from Lowes that you hook to your car battery. Mine provides 750W continuous/1500W max and was only $80. Actually tested it for the first time about a week ago during a short power outage and it worked excellent. I was able to run the entire tank.

I'd go the truck route since I have a tundra, but ideally with my FIL's help, was going to take it and rig the return pump into a circuit that kicks it on when power fails......

Of course now I realize this model is pull cord start only, so will need something that can be switched on.... probably ok since it got sold before I could jump.

Anyone have updates on there being decent priced big UPS's for running like just gyres for a few hours. I dont think any would keep up with panworld + heater.
