would this set up work?

Recently I have been thinking about setting up a SH tank and reading the forum. I am hoping to get some comments regarding the following plan.

I have a 35G hex tank. I will divide it right down the middle with a piece of acrylic where the back side would be a fuge with a big ball of cheato and the front side will house two SHs with live rock and other macro algae. I will use a small powerhead (250gph) to pump water from the front side bottom to the back (through a hole) which will then flow to the front side at the top. This will also be the main circulation. The cheato will come from my reef tanks fuge teaming with life. Would this be enough to supply two horses with enough food.

My main concern is that I will probably not be able to feed them frequently with the type of food they seem to require and would have to rely on them to hunt their own food growing in the fuge and making their way to the front side. I may supplement them with frozen type of foods a few times a week.

Also considering the limited feedings, would the amount of macro be sufficient filtration? I am trying to avoid using a skimmer but will if I have to.

All comments or experiences with similar setups are welcome.

Thanks

Ali

seahorses can't have 'limited feedings'

the hex tank is GREAT!!! and they can have cheato in the tank with them-I don't understand, really:

ya feed them twice a day with frozen mysis... fairly simple. don't need to seperate the tank, and the cheto won't support them AT ALL. Every pod will be wiped out within a few days. maybe a week if theres a ton.

Thats exactly why I do not want the cheato in with the SHs so the pods have a place to live safely and multiply in the back of the tank. Then the question boils down to... will there be enough making it to the other side. whihc I believ becomes a function of the size of the fuge (in this case 1/2 of teh 35G hex) and the rate of consumption which is 2 SHs...

while feeding frozen food is not too difficult, I want a system where I can leave by itself for a few weeks without the addition of food.

it just won't work with seahorses. they need more food than that.

my horses eat 14 mysis a DAY-that would be the equivalent of probably 40 amphipods. EACH. 80/2 horses.

you'd need a HUGE fuge for that.. in the hundred gallon range, actually.

they NEED to be fed DAILY.
