I have had dozens of those spins in me, especially my belly from snorkling over them. You can't really get them out, but they disolve over time. None of them ever caused me trouble except a little pain

I had a long spine black urchin that munched on sps. Also I have heard if you have an acic tank that they will scratch it badly with there beaks in the process of scraping algae off tank walls. I still love em and have a glass tank.
