Just my experience with gravity fed ATO's using one of those mechcanical float valves, back in the nineties I had one stick open and flooded my floor.

I have been using them for 15 years without an issue so far but I have heard of them sticking open sometimes. That's why my ATO tank is only 7-8 gal normally. If it dumps everything then it's still okay.

Didn't go with the plastic bin. Read about 3-4 posts above...
