Wow Got my Elc bill today!

I found this on Fox News today. Thought it was very funny.

Here's My Two Cents and Then Some

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (AP) â€" A southern Illinois man who's fed up with higher Ameren electricity rates has come up with a way to pay his bill and show his displeasure.

Robert Hancock of Carterville said his monthly power bill jumped nearly 200 percent â€" to $526.62.

So he's going to send Ameren 52,662 pennies.

Hancock said he's worked things out with a local bank to get the coins and with the post office to mail the money.

It will cost about $50 extra for postage. But Hancock says that if he can cause Ameren a little inconvenience, it's worth it to him.

Sweet! Although, it only effects the little person who works in billing. It has no effect on "The MAN".

Mine this month was $425,.. It just keeps going up, it use to be right at $200-$225. I thought it was the tank.. When I talk to my dad he said theres was $385. and they live in a brand new house, and just him and my mom there. They don't leave the lights on or nothing, when you pull up you never know if there home or not it so dark.

I had a 217 # to call to spring field and Complain about the increase, but I cannot seem to find it now.

I know you guys over in IL had quite a shock this year, but how long has your rates been frozen, 9 years or something?

Now the IL house voted for Ameren to repeal the increase the refreeze the rates.

Hmmmmm, I wonder who will pay for that? Maybe MO people since we dont have frozen rates?

I know it hurts, but you cant really say its not fair.

Hmmm terrible post.

Why is it a terrible post Mark? Is anything that goes against the general rantings toward Ameren a terrible post, or having an opinion that goes against the general thinking of IL people a terrible post.

If there is price gouging, then yes it should be stopped, but if it is just bringing IL consumers up to todays rates why complain about it. I agree the Kilowatt hour, which I dont know, should be close to the same for both states.

I think though that many people in Southern IL especially decided when they built to have an all electric house due to the low cost of electricity. Now that is isnt so cheap they want the government to step in and get their low cost utilities back. Just like anything else in business, the cost will be passed on, and if they cant charge it in IL, MO is the logical place to increase rates.
