I found this video on making your own fish food. Dennis
http://www.reefcast.com/videos/DIY_Fish_Food.mpg

Thats a good vid to show people how easy it is to make your own foods. A bit long, but well explained.

One tip I'd like to add to that is to make it easier to break off portions (instead of having to cut the 'brick') is to place a piece of eggcrate, same size as the baggie, under the bag of food before freezing. Press the bag into it so the food will seperate into cube-type sections. This way its easier to break off individual and smaller pieces. No sharp knives required. Heck, you can even break them up all at once (for those personalities who like to pop bubblewrap) right in the bag. With the smaller pieces, it should melt faster, too.

That's a good tip!...Another one is when, the food mixture is still kind of
soupy I pour it into those emptied Ocean Nutrition trays. When frozen,
no cutting is necessary and you have a uniform feeding each time.

LOL!

There's nothing wrong with eating freezer burned food from a food safety issue. It's nasty, but it won't hurt you.
Yeah, it's like freeze dried food.:D

Here's a batch I brought out of the freezer tonight. I use those little ice trays that make those tiny cubes.

Wait but does the food fall apart quick like brine shrimp cubes? I think when I get the skimmer kicking in with the rest of my LR I will try this out.

I defrost a few cubes in a cup of tank water before I dump it in or turkey baste onto the corals.

Where do you get those ice trays? I'm definitely going to have to start making my own fish food.

If you can't find those ice cube trays, plastic wrap and egg crate lighting panels work excellent also. I just put it in a zip lock spread thin, break off chunks as needed.

I think I got them from either Linen n Things or Bath & Body. Usually when my wife drags me into those stores, I look for things that I can use for this hobby.:D
