Wow, nanos are cheap!

So, instead of buying a new cube, I decided to use what I had on hand for a while, and see how it went.

First, I polished up (a little) a 15g acrylic I used to raise babies. My 20g stand would be perfect. I pulled underlayment out of the garage.

The sand from the body tank went in; I will need to add more Southdown (from the garage) and some seed sand from the main tank, since the sand from the goby tank is not very live due to the diligent attentions of two large gobies and two large shrimp.

Rock will come from small pieces from the main tank. Fish are babies I raised myself.

I decided to set the sumpless nano up right and order a Tunze mini, Finnex 50w titanium heater and controller, and also a couple of more cheap powerheads for mixing salt since my Maxi-Jets all died.

$75.47?!

Wow. Cheap. Once I set it all up, I get to put in two baby clowns I raised and the $1200 yellow watchman goby baby. :rolleye1:

At $1200, I stopped counting.

where did you get the southdown?

Originally, I bought a bunch of bags from a guy who ordered a whole pallet from the east coast a few years ago. More recently, I got some clean leftovers from someone else... who probably got it from the same pallet.

Geez, thats really great, Nicole. And to think I was concerned about your leaving the forum, hobby, and needing a few bucks! I feel so much better now. :)

LOL, i really appreciate everyone's concern, but for the record:

I am not leavng the hobby
I am not leaving this forum
I have not gone broke

I just needed to rearrange some priorities and this hobby ended up near the bottom of the list. The time and money spent on the hobby need to shrink, especially the time.

I have gotten off so cheaply here, I may have to splurge and buy a new, more powerful backup battery. The battery in mine is not replaceable and it's not been doing so well since that power surge a while back that fried all my surge suppressors. I fixed the blown fuse in the battery backup, but it sure didn't last the 22 hours it should have lasted in my last power outage; started running out of juice at 3!

Having had a farm of tanks for breeding, the more-than-one-tank fetish has probably been cured in me permanently. ;)
