I will post more tommorrow but all I can say for now is WOW!!! 2nd shipment arrived today and when I un packed it it looked great lot's of coral on the rock's 3 big rock's and 3 little tree coral rock's. The best part is when I took out one of the big ones and had it setting in the tub of bag water my son started freaking out saying something was unfolding out of the rock. I looked and it was a big octopus about the size of my open hand from end to end... And that is not the end f it I picked up the rock and put it in the tank real fast, then little baby octopus start floating everywhere, they are stuck all over the glass. Now what do I do...

Pictures to follow...

Can you post pictures quick!

I'd love to dream on what I'am getting - still haven't sent for part 2 yet. You should check your LFS to see if they will buy or trade; that's a lot of octos in a tank!

Well as in any fish story I didn't think to take a picture of the octopus. but I am on hte hunt today.

I just rearranged every rock in the tank. Trying to get it closer t what I am looking for. I looked everywhere, did not see the Octopus, wonder where he went. I hope isn't laying around outside, I guess he will start t stink if he is. I am beat, this has been an emotional job, all the excitement then the rock show's up and then you put it in the tank and all that comes with. Then you wait to acclimate all your little critters, another 3 hr's. Went to bed last night at around 12:30. Come home today check ammonia only up .25, then rearrange everything taking care not to hurt anyone. Then cleaned everything up again...Whew beat. still gotta go to Boy Scout's with my son. Tank is cloudy now I will take some pictures later.

Does anyone think my octopus will come out of hiding?

The octo will die now....they hang around until the eggs hatch and then expire.......the hermits will find him!

Richard I kind of figured that was going to happen. I should have probably took him out before the rock went in the tank, huh. Newbie mistake, should I go looking for him? Also one of the flower Anemone's is clear looking and not moving at all kind of deflated, should I pull him out?. Readings are still good but coming up....

s.g. 1.026 up from steady 1.025 I will fix this tonight.

Ph 8.0

ammonia .50 up fro .25

nitrate 25 up from .20

nitrite.25 up from 0

Look's like a water change on the horizon. Richard I would like to confirm to wait till 1.00 on Ammonia before changing, I see some people change at .50 but you say to wait to allow cycle to run it's course.

Anemones do that....

you will find the octo...sooner or later..

not to worry about the SG.....

ammonia is good, only change at 1ppm...

Richard,

"Anemones do that...."

Do what Richard die? or look clear but are ok... Just asking cause if it is dead I'll pull it out but if it is ok I will leave it in there, nothing seem's to be eating it at this time. It was looking fine yesterday all opened up clinging to the glass. I will wait till or if I hit 1.00 on the amonia.

Took a pucture of the Anemone for you he is at the bottom of the rock right near the sand. The other Anemone's are doing great...

Anemones change shape and colors all the time.....if one dies you will know, they turn to a pile of white snot...otherwise they are doing their thing!

Richard TBS

I have very little experience & probably I am totally wrong, but that looks like a pile of snot to me, especially in comparison to the other 2. Left side of the bottom right rock, by sand...The other 2 do look great tho!

not snot!

not snot!

Seehag~would you mind keeping us posted w/pics of this anenome? I know I'm not the only one who is very curious to see it's changes.

It did change, this morning when I got up it had kind of like curled its sides up a little into a 3d thingy so not dead. I will post a picture later. Got to treadmill now then test water.

More live anemones bite the dust because they are presumed dead...especially condys...they can ge huge one day and 1/2 inch the next...and get tossed alive.....if an anemone dies, you will know it..

Look's like one of the sea slugs bit the dust. He was kinda looking bad yesterday, not moving and all, but today I saw one of the brittle stars pulling him under a rock. Should I pull him away from the star or just let the star eat him.
