Wow!

I made a small order to Tampa Bay Saltwater for 15 lbs of their coral encrusted live rock. All I can say is WOW! This stuff is full of life! I keep finding stuff. And the rock is beautiful. I will order all of my rock from them from now on.

I got crabs, starfish, barnacles, coral, sponge, and something that sticks out of the rock about the diameter of a pencil and 2-3 inches long and retracts very quick if you get up to take a look. I have no idea what it is. It's the same color as an earthworm but it looks like it has a distinct head but I can't see it for long enough to figure it out.

Do you have a digital camera that you can take pictures with?

We'd love to see your tank and TBS. Come join us in this thread and show us some pictures and let us know all the stuff you got with your rock.

I got this just today from TBS. Full of life! Just cycling my tank--little cloudy after adding rock and crushed coral.

Yes--the 15 pounds is what you get initially with their *Package*. Then when your ammonia is zero they give you the remaining rock and all the critters.

I believe all their rock looks like this. It is from their cultured 5 acre rock farm 2 miles off shore of Tampa.

How much do you think I would need to pay for shipping through the airline for about 15-20 pounds from TBS to south Texas???

do you all so happen to know what the average going rate is a pound on the airlines???

I love you rock and will buy it as well.....

Southwest charges a minimum of 50lbs for any order and to have it shipped from Tampa to Nashville it was $42. I got 15 lbs, plus he ships it in water so it was closer to 40 lbs once shipped.

Almost...

all the airlines have a minimum 100 pound charge, in your case $42 for up too 100 pounds.......

Thanks
TBS

And hope Southwest flies to your airport. It is the airline that is least expensive with the shipping.

Thats a FACT!

all the other airlines have fuel surcharges of .30-.65 cents a pound extra, on top of the regular charge, but NOT Southwest!!

You sure about that?? I thought they first send you the less expensive base rock and then after your tank cycles they send you the premium rock.

Can someone from TBS please verify this?

I stand corrected on the poundage, I knew that but I got mixed up on it. But the price is better than what it costs to Fed Ex it to my house and it takes 3 hours instead of overnight. BTW, I still have little to no die off. All of the featherdusters, corals, anenomes, clams, etc are still very active. And so are the hitchhikers.
Oh, my unidentified hitchhiker was a mantis shrimp. He was pretty cool. I would have kept him but I did not want to have to keep replacing my cleaner crew so I gave him away. My starfish are pretty cool, one buries in the sand and waves his arm out so they look like earthworms coming out of their hole. I think he wants to catch a fish.

Nice pic Wazoo! Is that the premium $6.00 per lb. stuff, and are those pieces pictured 15 lbs?

This is that same rock from TBS today after 3 weeks. I cycled my tank with this rock--did a lot of PWC and had no die off.

Just wondering if this rock

Just wondering if this rock

(which looks great), is from the package??? Did you just order the better rock for $6.00/lb?

I am thinking of doing this. I am starting another tank and will be eventually tearing down the hex. I will have some rock, but not enough. I could use my old rock as base rock (after TBS rock cycles), so I really wouldn't need base rock from them. I was on TBS web page and they show 3 different kinds of rock. Yours looks like the best stuff. I just can't tell if you got the "Package" or not. Oh yeah, how many pounds did you get??

Thanks, Kristin

After reading other posts from Wazoo I can tell you that is in fact his base rock from "The Package".

I just got mine yesterday and this base rock is better than most people's premium rock. WELL worth it to get The Package.

Kristin--I got The Package for a 20g tank--40lbs of rock. I just got the second part of my order today plus all my critters.. This rock looks better than the first part.
