I personally think the moderation is getting a little out of hand. While I realize that this is a family forum threads are being closed that really shouldnt be. I look at some of the moderators posts and they are much more inflamatory then what I am seeing closed in here. But of course I guess we will "respect their authoritaeeeeee!"

There is a touchy subject right now that is resulting in the closures. I cannot type anyhting about it in here as I believe they are using the search function to find these posts. Just check the trend of locks and you will figure it out. Specifically Jason's post from last night.

I know what is getting a lot of them closed. And when they moved towards a personal attack they should be. However, as I PMed to a moderator earlier, when the discussions are being objective and discussing the behavior they are beneficial to the group. I just think that there may be a little more moderation then necessary going on.

True, actually discussing this issue may have a positve spin and help people realize there is a problem that needs to be addressed instead of ignored.
Instead of hiding this we can learn from it and talk to our kids about online predators and maybe someone reading this will stop something they are currently doing. Obviously this brings to light that even our little community is not immune to this problem.

I was just sharing a news reel I happened to stumble across....no different than posting the english kids swimming in skimmer foam comming from the ocean or one of those giant fish being caught. I don't see why the mods felt they had to lock the thread, news is news, if there going to lock my thread for posting the news then they should lock every other thread on rc that is connected to anything news related.

If you read what happens in the "Buyer/Seller Feedback" forum, you can get a taste for the overzealousness of the mo-ds. In many cases it really looks like people who have no power in everyday life feeling invincible online. Lot's of "Ok, I'm going to close this thread because I can" stuff going on.
