wrasse compability

I currently have a melenarus and lineatus wrasse in my 75g reef. I wanted to add a rhomboid, flame, and pink margin but I am afraid of fighting. Has anyone had all of these together before? My biggest concern is the rhomboid and lineatus. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have an issue with a yellow wrasse and a dotty back ...I was getting ready to post my aggression issues...but I will start my own thread...it may be relevant.

Can you share what other fish are in your tank? Just saying what wrasses are in the tank doesn't help much. Information on behavior and how long you've had the tank and fish are also helpful.

those are the only 2 fish in the entire tank. I currently have a blue spot jaw fish in qt. The tank has been running for 2.5 months. This is my 5th reef tank. I also have a sh tank with mandarin. The 2 wrasses in display were qt'ed for 4 weeks and have only been in display for a week. It would be a minimum of 6-8 weeks before the rhomboid would go in display but just want to make sure all the wrasses I listed are friendly. Lots of rock for hiding but also open for swimming and darting. 65x turnover inside display for oxygen. skimmer rated for 250g tank, a fuge, and a tightly sealed lid!

Okay, you should be fine. Make sure to qt and use an acclimation box to see how they behave towards your new fish.

Every fish is different, you may get lucky. The first step is going to be finding healthy fish. :D

wkp42 i would have to say that your combination of wrasses should be okay with noi issues at all . i would just be sure to move a bit of rockscape around when you add the last two fish and do it at the same time ,you will be fine .

I would be careful about ordering any Rhomboids. I have read and heard (from different sources) that the main location where Rhomboids are collected are having some turnover in their collectors. This has lead to very poor decompression for the fishes and I have also read that the new collectors have been using dirty needles to decompress.

This is just my experience, as I recently ordered a Rhomboid that had a swim bladder issue and died after 4 days in QT. It never was able to right itself and continued to swim in irregular circles and loops. Be careful and make sure you can see the fish first, ask how long they have had it, and make sure its eating before purchasing.

I've got over 20 wrasses together in my 450g DT (no melenaris)...IMO the biggest problem is getting a 'healthy' Rhomboid, since you seem to already have a healthy Lineatus.

Definately use acclimation box...

the melenarus is more of a tool fish to keep pest in check that are not weeded out from qt and coral dips.

Sorry you lost your rhomboid. Do you mind sharing where you ordered you fish from? Also, when do you feel the diver problem will be resolved?

Just make sure to buy from a source where the fish are held for a few days and not shipped out immediately. Examples would be DD and PIA; both are sponsors of RC.

IMO, they must be held/observed much more than "a few days"....rhomboids are not the easiest wrasse to keep...even those from a 'good' source.

The 2 best suppliers IMO. Especially for the "hard to find" fish.
