Wrasse Experts Needed (ID)

I can second wrasseguy2 on the beauty of this fish. I had a close to terminal phase male that was gorgeous when he flashed his red fins. Males of this species are not common in the trade. It seems they collect mostly females and usually call them Red parrot wrasses or some such name. I refer to them as a poor man's flame wrasse:). Be careful when opening the tank cover at feeding time. Mine jumped out when I had the cover off at feeding time and I found him the next morning on the floor. Mine was a little agressive with other fairy wrasses but caused no major problems.

Funny you say that because moine just swam into my hand while putting algae on the clip. This is the most friendly fishI have ever had...

Today, it has really brightened up in color, more orange, and more yellow/white on the bottom. Maybe it was just super stressed out in the small tank it was in at the LFS.

I'l try to get pictures.

like is said it is one of my favorites..i have owned 4 of them and agree with chooch i don't see males as much..most times it is juv. and females and seen them named all kinds of names..i have a really cool pic of mine displaying..but got to do some digging for it

Here is a little video of it for more perspective, I am a terrible camera man, but you get the idea.

As for the pylei wrasse...I have been trying to find females for it for a while. No one gets them in stock often. Plus $100 a piece is killer! Not to mention, my tank is starting to get crowded.

Here is a video of the wrasse letting me touch it. A little long, but still cool
