Wrasse for a 29 gallon....

I have standard 29 gallon reef with 10 gallon sump, what wrasse can i put in there? ( besides sixline, pygmy, and the like.) Live stock is sps/lps, pair occ clowns.

There's only a handful I'd ever have in a 29g tank.

Notably:
Pseudocheilinus antenna
Any species of the Wetmorella genus

Id recommend a bigger tank for a wrasse. I wouldnt put one in anything smaller than a 3 foot tank. They do need alot of swimming room to be happy

I just received a Pseucheilinops ataenia today from LA. It is already eating, and has a very inquisitive and peaceful personality so far. Beautiful colors as well! I hope to eventually have a pair. For me, it was a toss-up between the one I have and some sort of Wetmorella spp.

IMO yes....after having an exquisite and 6 line in a 29 biocube and they just didnt look happy from the minute i put them in there. They just looked stressed. They are like tangs and need their swimming room

A smaller flasher wrasse like a Linespot or a Blue flasher would be good. They kind of like to hang around rather than dashing about like most of the other wrasse do. They both have great color too.

I too have a 29, and am really wanting to add a Wrasse as my last fish...I was thinking a yellow Coris Wrasse, or a small Lubbocks

skip the yellow coris, they get to big for a 29, and leave out the 6 line unless you never want another fish in that tank ever. The possums would be good or even a smaller fairy or flasher. And by smaller I mean one that won't grow past 3"s, some will grow up to 5"s. Go to liveaquaria and look around in their reef safe wrasse section for some ideas.

I was thinking a smaller flasher or fairy...but a lot of people are always quick to shoot them down in a 30g setup. I have been using LA to browse, and I really like the Lubbocks and Mcoskers wrasses. Both are only supposed to be 3-3.5" full grown...just don't know which one yet

I have a ruby head fairy wrasse in my 40 breeder. He is only 3.5 inches long maybe. I couldnt imagine him being happy in a 29 gallon....ever.

That's what I don't want. I am hoping i find a good alternative.. anything else colorful that has a large swimming personality like a Wrasse would? Something that would be happier and better suited in a smaller setup?

IMO fairy and flasher wrasse are too active for a 29 gallon.

Then I don't want to try it...might just go back to my original idea of a 4 line or 6 line, and just make it my final add and hope for the best.
