Wrasse for bare bottom tank

Any recommendations for a reef safe wrasse for my bare bottom 225g tank? Tank is 72x30x24, open top with 4" euro, mostly SPS, full zeo. Current fish list is 2 b/w clowns, true perc clown, 3 bangai cardinals, blue hippo tang, purple tang, x-lrg naso tang, LMB, bartlett anthia, and 2 female bellus angels. I purchased a wrasse that a LFS sold to me as a "Christmas Wrasse" but it swam into and got stuck in a pipe and perished (long story). Later, another person at the same store said I probably shouldn't have put that wrasse in a BB tank.

Anyway, looking forward to suggestions. TIA.

i wouldnt recommend any type of coris wrasse..they like to sleep in the sand..maybe like a flame fairy wrasse or flasher wrasse..both a realy nice..great temper too

Thassoloma (sp?) genus do not require any sandbed and sleep in the rocks. However, they can be very aggressive, eat inverts, and need at least a 55 gallon b/c the smallest gets up to 6 inches. Also, sixlines and I believe others from this genus also do not need sandbeds.

In my opinion any reef safe wrasse will be fine.

I have 2 yellow coris in my bare bottom qt and they have been there for over a month.

Thanks for the input! Any thoughts on least likely to jump too? The euro bracing helps but I've still had a couple fish clear it. :(

Euro bracing will not keep fish in the tank. If you have jumpers, you need mesh with 1/4 inch holes.

Stick with faries and flashers, almost every other genus of wrasses sleep in sand. Flashers and faries actually sleep in a self secreated mucus sac. I have a mccoskeri wrasse in my 46 reef. She makes one every night.

..poor fish they need sand..its like sleeping on the floor instead of a bed i guess you cant die from that put some sand in there they'll love you for life...............................................................................................................

That is something I would not recommend. The two wrasses will probably end up stressing out over the fact that the can not engage in one of their natural behaviors. At the first sign of trouble my yellow coris darts into the sand, and also sleeps in it every night. This goes for all Halichoeres genus wrasses.

Any Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus would be a good choice for a BB tank. Pseudocheilinus are good, but aggressive choices too.

When you properly Qt fish you have no choice but to put them in a bare bottom. In a couple months they will have sand......

I properly quarantined my yellow coris in a tank with a 3 inch sand bed. There's no rule that says quarantine tanks have to be bare bottom, unless you are running copper.
