Wrasse ID

Please check out my Wrasse ID photo in my photo gallery. I am not sure what type of wrasse he is, and I am curious. He does not have the whipfin and when he gets excited his belly, lips, face and upper portion of his fins turn a beautiful golden yellow, his belly turns black and the lower portion of his fins and his tail turn a dark flourescent purple with dots. I believe he is a flasher wrasse due to this ability. He was sold as a carpenter wrasse but I suspect that is wrong. Any help is appreciated and welcomed.

will he get the whipfin? or is he a she and will not?

well from the pic it looks like a male..but i need a larger pic to tell..how large is it?..it looks like a young male and should get the long filament on the dorsal
