Wrasse keeping basics....Stocklist

I'm trying to decide on a fish stock-list for my 34gallon Solana, and have decided to try my hands at a wrasse or two (or three?).

The problem is, I have no experience with wrasses whatsoever, and I don't want to add inappropriate fish. I know there is a huge range of sizes, temperaments, and reef-safety, but it would be very helpful to have some peaceful, colorful, relatively hardy fish recommendations from the wrasse experts out there.

Right now I have an orange-lined cardinal and a neon goby.

Thanks!

I'd advise possum/Pygmy wrasses for your tank. Hardy, peaceful, little fisha dn would do well in your tank I think.

I would personally advise against any of the fairy wrasses. Most get too big/active for your tank IMHO. If my past flasher wrasses hasn't made my 40B QT look small to me, I'd say you could try one.

Pink streaked wrasse would be a good option they are super peaceful inquisitive little guys. I know most fairies and flashers would be cramped in a solana, but what about the McCoskers? They do have a small adult size of only 3" and are very colorful and active.

Pygmy Wrasses are excellent additions to smaller tanks. I think you could get away with one flasher as well. They tend to stay in the 3" range.

I was leaning toward a McCosker's actually.

Definitely a good decision, very attractive for their small size. Could always put a pinkstreaked or possum in there too if you wanted, they are very non-aggressive and would more than likely coexist fine.

Sounds like a plan. I have a custom cover for my tank coming soon, so I'll have to wait until then. Don't want any fish jumping out.

Three inches of activity. Personally I thought my 1.5" male made the 40B QT it was in look too small for it. This is just my experience though, which is why I only suggested the pygmy/possum wrasse complex. IMO would work out better, and they are fairly colorful as well. :)

I think McCoskers is a excellent choice! also they are very slow growers from my experiences.. had one for over a year and didn't really see any growth. Stayed around 2 inches.
