wrasse not sleeping in sand

I just got a blue star Leppard wrasse and is in qt. Eating mysis and acting as good as expected being in a qt tank. Just like my last melanurus wrasse, I put a tupperware with fine sand in the qt. The mel wrasse would use it all the time but this Leppard has not. wondering if anyone else has seen any of there wrasses do the same?

Well it's good that it's eating that's for sure. My leopards dove straight for the sand, but there are other issues I am battling in their qt at the moment.

The only time they pop up is to eat or in very dire distress, as in my problem now. One hasn't slept in the sand for a week, and is swimming upside down- but not dead, yet. :(

I have read your thread and feel really bad. I actually was thinking about your position while at the store looking at him/her (Not sure which it is yet?)

I just was looking at the fish and obviously it's hungry (about to go give it food) but it was on top of the sand bed nipping at the mysis that had settled there. So it knows the sand is waiting if it wants to use it.

I am also trying to diagnose it's poop, lol. I'm in the ttm atm. It had a pc of poop hanging that was in between a normal brown and partly see thru. My other wrasse had a darker brown but same shape. Only difference was that the other wrasse eats nls pellets. Kind of don't want to treat just to treat but it seems to shiver it's fins once in a while. Not sure if that's normal or not? Obviously I'll be watching and debating on doing 2x2x2x2x2x2 ttm instead of four 3 day ttm.

I'm also not sure about treating with prizpro as I've read that some wrasse don't do well with it but some were ok.

Got some pics but the flash scared him to much. You can see the poop in the non flash blurred pictures. Don't want to jump to conclusions. I have seen white stringy poop on other fish and knew that it had internal parasites.

Hey max, yeah I had to move two upside down wrasses into a coral qt frag "tank" CUZ the ammonia in their tank and the bacterial bloom was obviously affecting them.

What's surprising is the third one popped out of the sand and is swimming normally! And the water is clearing up!!!

Your wrasse looks happy and I wish you the best. I bet it'll find the sand.

Can you please tell me how you're doing TTM with the wrasses if they're finding their way into the sand? Are you digging them out in the morning from the sand????

Btw, mine have white stringy poop for sure.

Well that's definitely good to hear for sure! I also hope your guys pull through and make it into your dt.

With me doing ttm, as you can see in tthe picture, I just use that Tupperware. My last wrasse went in whenever I turned off the lights and popped out after awhile when they came on. I use 2 Tupperwares. So whenever I set up the 2nd 10g it's ready to go.

I know fish poop what they're eating. So I'd guess that algae eaters poop is probably more greenish like.

Can take a little while for a leopard to find the sand tray. Had a black leopard that took almost a week to find it. Then she was good.
