Wrasse question

This week I received two flasher wrasses from Divers Den - a McCoskers and a Carpenters, both terminal phase males. They arrived in great condition, and I was very pleased - it was my first DD/LA purchase.

The McCoskers was the size I was expecting, but the Carpenters was much bigger. Like a lot bigger. Anyway, I acclimated the fish together and when I released them into the DT, they immediately found a cave together. They came out after a while and are doing just fine, but they always stick together. (See my avatar pic) They never stray beyond a few inches apart from each other.

Will they stay like that? Sorry for a maybe dumb question, but does bonded pair mean male/female? Can fish from different species buddy up like that? I was actually worried they would fight, both being flashers and all. But I am seeing the opposite.

Once they settle in more, they'll likely claim their own turfs. It's simply a security-in-familiarity type of thing right now.

I have a large full grown Linespot with a small young male McCoskers and they get along fine.

By the way, I think you're the first person I've seen on here from the Central Valley. I am originally from down that way. Any good stores down there to check out the next time I'm visiting family? I remember there was one in Clovis.

Fresno has a few - Seven Seas and Whitie's Pets in Fresno. Whitie's is really big, but they don't take great care of their tanks. Big selection though.

Ultimate Aquarium in Visalia is a great store. It's small, but the owner goes down to LA every other week and picks out primo stock. The owner, Mark, has a marine biology degree and he's been at it for over 25 years. I've never seen a store with cleaner tanks - great store.

Before buying these two wrasses from LA/DD, all my fish have come from Ultimate Aquarium and I've never had an issue with any of them. Give it a look next time you come down to the Valley.

Thanks I'll make a big loop around for fish in Visalia and ice cream in Hanford.
