Wrasse Suggestions

Hey RC,

Here's my fish stocking so far for my 65g mixed reef.

2 clowns (mated pair)
1 vanderbuilt chromis
1 firefish
1 copperband

I'm very happy with the current lineup, though, recently I've been put into a predicament. 6 Sexy shrimp I added months ago are really picking at my duncan and candy-cane coral. I never thought it would be a problem but recently the damage has been getting to the point where I'm concerned. The sexy shrimp were the only reason I was holding back on a wrasse but I'd rather save my 2 yr old colony of duncans and candycanes. Letme know of your other suggestions :)

IMO you cant go wrong with a melanurus or yellow canary aka yellow coris wrasse. Both are beautiful, usually non aggressive, fish that help with pest. I keep both!

Often times Mystery wrasses get pretty aggressive so I would avoid that. Well I guess if your last fish might work.

There is a good chance those halichoeres wrasses may eat the shrimp, but IME if the shrimp are first into the tank they won't consider them food items. Now if you add the wrasses then more shrimp down the line they may think its feeding time.

I love my mystery but he's a wrASSeHole!

I have a cleaner and blood shrimp, which were in the tank before any wrasse. I haven't had any problems with my wrasse, and my fish are large. Not to say it can't or won't happen though.

My purple tang rules the tank. The mystery is as peaceful as can be. Doesn't bother any of the 5 shrimp, and inhales sinking pellets like a vacuum cleaner.

Want one of these next!
