That sucks Jake.My purple wrasse went carpet surfing the other day also but flew so far I happened to see it and was able to scoop him up and save him but it's like the fourth time he has done it so it's just a matter of time before I lose him too.
Justin- Wrasses are known for jumping.....so are hawk fish. Not much else tends to jump though. I would definately suggest staying away from them with your tank.
Grant- Liveaquaria has a really nice looking mystery wrasse for 100 on their divers den site...but I love my cleaner shrimp too much.
I had a snowflake moray eel carpet surf one night out of a 55 I had in my bedroom many years ago. I got up in the middle of the night to clear out some beer and stepped on him.
he was very dry, I picked him up and threw him back in, he was like a stick, and the next day he was fine and swimming around.
I had the exact thing happen to me about 6 years agao with my zebra moray (thats still alive and in the display tank at Home Blown Glass on 4th st. downtown santa rosa) when I put him back in the tank he shed a 1/4 inch thick layer of slime, kinda like a shedding snake. Very weird and kewl at the same time.
