Wrasse trade

I have 2 healthy wrasses that dont particularly like eachother. 1 is a male juvi ornate leopard wrasse the other is a male melanurus wrasse. I would love to trade someone for another reef safe wrasse or even for a same species but female. I will post pics when i get a chance.

Depending on temperament I'd be willing to buy leopard wrasse, always been wanting one just haven't had the opportunity to pick up a good species

He is friendly and docile so is the mel only problem is that they are both males and the mel chases him because he is bigger. Im going to keep the trade open as ultimately id prefer to trade or sell the mel but id rather trade the leopard for a female leopard.

Will, the leopard being a female wouldn't help in my opinion. He's just being territorial cause of similar shape,size,and color most likely. Did you using an acclimation box to let them get used to each other.

Yeah, he was in a box for 8 days. This bugs me because i am only adding fish listed as peaceful and its a big enough tank that i would think they all could have their own territories

That's kinda the challenge with wrasses, they are all listed as peaceful. For the most part they are, but its not always the case when it comes to mixing them. The order you add them in can go a long way. I also try to always add two wrasses when I add, this way it usually helps keep one fish from being singled out. Try giving the Melanarus a timeout in the box for a while and see if he calms down. Worse case sell him, let the leopard get settled in and then add a new small Melanarus.

Thanks Brett, I have added most of my fish over the last 3 weeks trying to get everyone in the tank at the same time to minimize conflict. The hardest part has been finding everything i wanted. Still looking for a mccoskers,and another leopard. In most cases including the leopards, i have put in 2-3 fish in the acclimation box then the display at the same time. Right now the mel is cooling his heels in the refugium and he is going into the aclm box tomorrow unless someone throws out an interesting trade.
