Wrasses

Get one outta there. They will disrupt the tranquility and demeanor of the other inhabitants.

It looks like the two of them are fighting for dominance. If the two of them were completely peaceful in the 57 G I think there's a good chance they will calm down after a while. Maybe try putting the more aggressive one in an acclimation box?

But if they continue on this way for much longer they will cause undue stress to each other and the rest of the tank. Also if they're the only two Wrasses in there, it might help to add more Fairies and Flashers to dissipate the aggression.

Why wouldn't they fight in the 3 foot 57. Why in the bigger tank They ignored each other for 2 years. I'll keep an eye on it

I would suspect that one of the wrasses may have been added after the other in the smaller tank and the pecking order was already set up. When added to the larger tank at the same time the pecking order is now up for grabs. Just a thought.

Yes your right red one did chase the solar fairy around a little 2 years ago. Then it stopped after a weak. They been in a the new tank a week. Maybe the solar thinks it time to show it's the boss. Makes sense. It's possiable

will adding more wrasses fuel the fire or calm it down. i was thinking of adding maybe 3 more wrasses, maybe 1 fairy and 2 flashers over time. wasn't going to add any fish for 6 months. wanted the tank to really cycle

I have multiple wrasses in my tank. I have found acclimation boxes to be very helpful with wrasses.

FWIW I have pink margin, naokis, gray head, temminicki, exquisite, solon fairy, melanomarginatus. The melanomarginatus rules the roost.

doesnt have a high fin, but looks like joanallenae. its mostly red with blackish color running along the top. this was the first time i noticed how colorful its fins where when opened

Ahh, C. joanallenae also have the dorsal spike, so probably not that either. Cirrhilabrus rubripinnis, then?

When adding more Wrasses, aggression may actually flare up at first, but it should fade after the first few days. Definitely use an acclimation box.

yes that is it, it is c rubripinnis. your very good with your wrasses
ok will get myself a box. how long do i keep it in there, a week or less. for some reason i never really liked wrasses like 10 years ago, all of a sudden i love them.

I keep new Wrasses in boxes until the fish inside and outside of the box ignore each other and everyone seems happy and is eating well. Usually takes from a few days to a couple weeks.

The Wrasse may still get "special attention" when taken out of the acclimation box, but it's usually much, much less than without the box. Plus, the new addition will have strengthened up by then.

are flasher wrasses similar in disposition as fairy wrasses. they look more gently , although i know looks arent the best judge when judging fish agression. 6 line wrasse looks tiny and cute, but we all know its not even close to being docile

Flashers are generally more peaceful than Fairies. IME, all Flasher species, except maybe the Eight-line Flasher, seem to have about the same disposition. You might have one individual that's a total jerk, but they're chill overall. They do a little bit of chasing here and there, but nothing like you have between your Fairies.

Fairies on the other hand, some species are known to be more aggressive than others.
