WTB: 40 Gallon Breeder

yes, Spike has inspired me to get back into the hobby. I was just about to tear my 29 gallon out and sell my corals and fish when I saw his new pictures of his amazing 40 gallon setup.

Anyways, right now I am looking for a 40 gallon breeder tank, as well as a nice metal stand for it.

Lighting for it too if anyone has something to sell.

You just missed the Petco special. $1 a gallon for tanks 20 gallon-55 gallon. I hear this is something they do regularly. I picked up a 40 breeder for $40. It lists for $100 at Petco.

Are those AGA tanks on sale or Perfectos? AGA 40 breeders usually run just a tad over $2 a gallon.

I have a metal 40g breeder stand id trade for a frag, though its not at my place yet so I cant post a pic, but I could have it here by wed. the 27, its in good shape but a coat of paint would make it a great looking stand. let me know.

Stupid question, why is a 40 gal tank refered to as a breeder tank?

Breeder is just a term used by the manufacturer that describes the tank's dimensions. I guess they might think it is a good sized tank for breeding fish though.

Like Spike says, it has to do with the dimensions.
From what I remember when I was in the LFS biz is that a breeder tank has a larger but more square of a footprint to allow more horizontal swim movement.
Example: a regular 40 gallon tank has a footprint of 48x12 and a breeder has a footprint of 36x18.

Ihave a 40 Breeder with metal stand that is has two over flows and two returns driled. Atm its runningat my house but I will be getting a 120 in the coming weeks and then takeing a few weeks to get it going if your willing to hold of for a bit. there is also a 40 Breeder under it for the fuge that will be for sale. the stand is a little rusty but it works. I will be also selling my light, its a ARO electronic ballast for 150W HQI with bulb. I made the light house myself but the its not to bad looking. letme know if your willing to wait and ill get more pics and get them to you

Just wondering as I have my 29 gallon torn down and everything is in two 20 gallon rubbermaid brutes.
