While what i am about to say might come off rude, you mentioned that "you're poor" (probably not literally) however think about this, its a very expensive hobby to get into. Even little tanks can REALLY add up the $$. What about a fresh water tank or another type of pet for the kids, bearded dragons are great kid friendly pets IME. Good luck.
