Anyone got one in good shape ... preferable with stand/canopy.

The dimensions should be 72X24x24"

Please let me know. THANKS!

Jack

You should look at the deep sea aquatics 185gal 60L x30D x24H or Marineland also makes these deep tanks. Much nicer to aquascape IMO. Less MH to buy 60'' T5s etc.

Thanks poolkeeper1 ... i just checked out deep sea aquatics on their site.... very nice.

I think i rathe stick to 72" to give the tangs as much linear room to swim as possible. Also, i really like the 24" ... it makes it easier to work with.

Thanks James ... I am looking to get away from U-tube overflows though. That's what i am running on my 125 now.

Good looking out! Let me know if you run into any other

If the price is right on that tank you can have it drilled and add an overflow on the back (External) would work the same as one inside the tank. You can do it yourself if your a DIY guy. Just buy the hole saws, their not that expensive. And you can have the glass cut to size, a little silicone and you saved a lot of money.

Theres a post by Ace 1204 180gal FS it acrylic and he's in atlanta, tank stand and canopy for 600.00 They are real easy to drill.

I see it! Worth considering the drive ... although the stand canopy is is not very attractive IMO.

Thanks for the heads-up!

:werd:

you can get this overflow kit from glass-holes.com for $85 that includes the overflow box, bulkhead & fittings, along w/ the glass hole saw. they also have return kits.

that is where i'm gettting everything to do my build very soon :)

Thanks James ... just saw the video on drilling with the glass-holes bit ... seems very simple.

Will definitely keep that in mind.

I deally i can find a tank already drilled and with a nice stand/canopy ready to go cause my schedule is so hectic. Checking one out at Wayne's this weekend and i am hopeful that it will work out.

just checked & their basic 72x24x25 is $550... you can add the drilling to it & they have stands/canopies....worth checking into

yup ... that's probably what my back-up plan is. Also, got a quote from Emerald Bay for a new one.

thanks again!

Hey Platax, if you go with GC's you know I am gonna tell ya to go ahead and go 30" tall ;) It adds to the price conciderable but it make such a huge difference IMO. Good luck on the hunt, patience will pay off. I know 2 big tanks sold at good prices in the last year in the club. Mine and Jfollies 180.
I saw the tank Wayne has and it would be a great tank to drill yourself and I bet it will be reasonabley priced. Buying a stand/canopy or having someone make one is where you are gonna get into some money. Just knock a hole out in a wall somewhere and build it in :).

Hey Angela...

TRUST ME in-wall is the dream, unfortunately not possible now. I will however have a small room behind the tank for sump and equipment.

Wayne also has a stand and canopy with it. Hopefully in good shape and at most will require some trim and refinishing. If not, i am a DIYer and will build one ... i did for my current 125 :) Oh and Wayne's tank is already drilled with overflows.

Going 30" is something that i have given thought to, but i am concerned that adding yet more volume will require costly upgrades. Right now i am confident of the equipment that i have to run a 180 but any more i would have to rethink lighting, skimmer and flow. If you are interested here is a current breakdown of my 125 setup:

Lighting: 3 x 250 HQI, Pheonix 14K
Skimmer: DAS EX2
Flow: 2 Tunze 6100 on Neptune Aquasurf. Rocking a 1.5" wave! 2 MJ1200 mods, 2 Seios 850 just in case i need to point to any dead spots. Mag 9.5 return on a 3/4" Sea Swirl (might have to upgrade to something bigger)
Brains: Aquacontroller JR, DC8, Aquasurf
Dosing: Reeftech Kalk Reactor
RO/DI: 4 stage 100gpd
Chem filtering: 2 phosban reactors for GFO and GAC
Sump: 30 gal which i also use to grow chaeto ... will probably add a second sump for that.

What do you guys think?

I thought you were looking at the big undrilled tank he has in the garage :hmm2: Wayne just has to many tanks for us to keep up with!

The 250's will be fine, I run 250 SE and had plenty of light. If you are already getting a rockin wave from the Tunze you will only get a kinda awsome wave by adding the highth ;) Same footprint just taller. True your skimmer will be underated but you can argue you don't want to "overskim" And that can be sold and upgradded easy enouph at a later date..... Not like wishin you had a bigger tank. You wouldn't really need to upgrade anything else but the sump but you would have to do that with a 180 also. A nice used 55 would work great for that and can be found pretty cheap most of the time.

You're a bad influence on me... i want you and my wife to become friends :D

seriously ... I'll pay ya.

Try to get her to buy into the frog idea too while you are at it :)

LOL

Just a little visual to show the wifey how the 24 tall looks compared to the 30 :) I origianally had my dad make the stand/canopy and side overflow covers for a 24 tall tank. The weird wood door thing propped up on the tank was to hide the side overflows which I didn't need with the taller tank I ordered. Just thought it was a good pic to show how much better the tall tank looks IMO but naturally I am bias! If you happen to order new that is.
