I need to fill up a 75 gallon tank. If you have frags of even large coral you would like to sell please let me know. If you have pictures that would be awesome. Also let me know how much you would like to sell the item for.

Thank you,

BK

Okay, once again, please be more specific

What type of lighting do you have? Flow? Hard or Soft corals? What other tank inhabitants do you have? How long has the tank been set up? Whats your experience level?

More information is needed to really be able to help you

Hmmm, what else can you fit in that tank?

I set up a 75 gallon reef tank about 3 months ago. I have roughly 100LB of live rock and a 14 gal sump. Coralife super skimmer 125. Mag 12 pump for main filtration and 3 100gph powerheads. I made the tank and sump myself out of acrilick. I'll add pictures soon. It is a corner tank and the sump is L shaped. The tank is 30 inches tall and the live rock is about 5 inches away from the water line. I have some coral: 3 leathers, 1 abae anemone, torch coral, muchroms, open neon brain, sun coral, Orange plating montipora and a couple more odd balls... The sump is loaded with spaghety algae. ...

I think I got everything. Now to the problem. I think my tank may be overstocked. I have the following fish in the tank.

2 chromis
1 blue demsel
1 3 stripe demsel
1 foxface Lo
1 Yelow Tang
1 fire fish
1 watchman goby
1 maroon clown
snails and crabs all over.

I have almost no hair algae since the yelow tang and the foxface are eating nothing but that. However I do have cyanobacteria all over the sand bed. I have been fighting it for the past week but I can't seem to win the fight. I feed the coral about once per week and the fish get some of that food also. I stopped feeding flake roughly one month ago.

All my levels seem fine except for nitrates seem to never fall below 20 ppm. As soon as they hit 30 ppm i do a water change and they go down a bit...

What do you guys think? How do I kill the cyano? What do I do about the Nitrates?

Thank you for all your help,

BK

If all you have inside the tank is 3 100gph powerheads, then you need FLOW. Much more flow...

check your Phosphates, if they are high, get yourself a phosban reactor. If they are at or near 0, then you have some dead spots and/or need more flow.

The above problem was fixed the day after the post. Thanks to all the great posts and the guys at gateway aquatics.

Lighting constists of:
1 250w hqi de 20K
1 150w hqi de 14K
2 24w pc actinics
hoping to add another 150w or 250w hqi but I have to figure out how to fit it over the tank. I might have to take apart the fixtures and use only the refletors...

Filtration:
Custom made sump w. 10 gal refugium
coralife 125 super skimmer
1200gph circulation w 6 jets on top all around the tank as outlets
4 100gph power heads low in the tank between the rock to blast the sand bed.

There is only one slow flow area in the whole tank and that's the spot the anemone picked.

I will add a aqua controller as soon as I make up my mind what to buy...

I am hoping to make it to the swap but with the type of work I do I will know only one or two days ahead. This would be the perfect place to get stuff and also to get to know the people around town.

1200gph for main filtration and then the 4 100gph powerheads. I'm probably loosing 200 to 300 because of the 5 ft the pump has to pump up. But that's still more then enough flow.

Thank you,

BK

I would like some sps but from what I have seen and heared they are hard to keep so I'm looking for some low maintenance sps. Maybe some Zoa's. ...

I just replaced the resin in one of the DI's. That might have been the problem with the cyano. I also bought a Tds meeter with in and out measurments. Nice gadget.

IN: 237.00 ppm
OUT 0.00 ppm
