hey richard,

as a mantis shrimp owner, i am always looking for crabs to feed my pets. i'm sure octopus owners are in the same boat. have you ever thought about selling the bad crabs that you get?

Got the crabs...

Got the crabs...

Always have the crabs......I keep them for feeding also.....can supply them, problem is shipping cost so much for just a few items, makes in not very economical to do.....it cost about $30 to overnight one mantis shrimp via the post office, the airlines all have 100# minimum charges.....so is had to become cost effective....but if you want them, I have!

what about the USPS guaranteed rate? you could ship crabs via 2 day priority shipping for only $14 that way. they are almost surely hardy enough to survive, especially if you put a piece of chaeto or caulerpa in there.

Can give it a shot, but this time of year heat is a factor, which is why mantis have to go overnight mail.....what size box is it?

well, according to the USPS website, a small box measures 8 5/8" x 5 3/8" x 1 5/8" and costs only $4.95, flat rate. i imagine that would be good for at least 5 crabs or so.

the medium box measures 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and costs $10.95. probably 10 crabs or so.

the large box measures a whopping 12" x 12" x 5 1/2", fits a small oven in it, and costs only $13.95. i bet your could put about 30 or 40 crabs in there.

Would be an experiment, as crabs have to be individually bagged, or you end up with crab pieces when it gets there.....I am willing to try if you are!

let's try, as an experiment, the small box rate. how many crabs can fit in there, and how much would you charge for each?

I know for a fact that them rock crabs are some tough buggers! A freind of mine has had 1 in a gallon jug for 2 months now. We save them up as we catch them for Mantis food for a 3rd freind LOL.
