Exactly. Do not use bottle jacks. You want to use a lally column. It's available as a special order at Davis Lumber (Ace) in Davis. I think I paid about $15 for the 12"-19" version.

I don't think he's trying to raise a sagging floor. He's trying to reinforce the floor so that it doesn't sag. I didn't use a bottle jack when I reinforced my floor.
