I am finally having success keeping clams in my tank. The Crocea I purchased sometime ago from DustinC is thriving and adding shell. I am ready to venture into a few more if some become available locally.

I will not purchase clams online. Been there, done that and paid the stupid tax.

I missed out on Peaceinusa's recent sale - you were lucky, Mike.

So if anyone else has a clam or two they are ready to sell - at least 4-5", drop me an e-mail or PM.

Not sure if you had tried them but usually wet pets has some nice ones and also aquarium concepts has some. Typically around 50 to 70 dollars for the 4-5" size. I got a each of mine at both places and they are doing great.

I coveted that monster bivalve at Wet Pets last time I was there... a little too rich for my budget, but well worth what they were asking for it...

glad to hear he is doing well. It was a beautiful clam

Yes, he's a happy boy, growing lots of new shell... I started him on the sand bed, and gradually started mving himshelf onto the rock. However, he kept flipping himself off the rock, fortunately always landing right side up. So finally I just put him back on the sand. I'm looking for a half clam shell to place under him to keep him out of the sandbed...

I keep asking about one of his roses from that tank he he keeps side stepping the question.

that thing is a monster! I bet it pulls calcium out of the water like crazy!

good luck with the search, George. Clams always add a nice touch to a reef IMO. I can't wait to get mine settled and go clam shopping.

Tell me your secret on keeping clams alive George.I have yet kept a clam alive for more then six months.

In my experience, all you need to do is keep up with your dosing, which most of us do for our corals, and I add DT's phytoplankton. I dose it every other day. It keeps the clam fed and happy. I have never lost a clam before.

why everyone tell secrets, hehe well hey lightslurv have you check mrcoral.com i saw a sale on there for free clams
