I am looking to buy a mature tank set up that is at least 24 gallons. I have cash in hand and am ready to buy asap. I am pretty new at this so that is why I dont want to start my own set up. feel free to call or e-mail me with any offers. zach_stacy@hotmail.com, or 314-971-2929

You can buy "instant reefs" which is a 12 or 24 gallon Nano Cube at several places here in st. louis...Clayton Pet Emporium, Gateway Aquatics, Marine Solutions (I think), and you can always check out Beldts or tropical world.

Most will come with tank, lights, filters, rock, substrate, a few corals, etc... for about $300-800

thanks for the help, I have been looking at a few places and I just havent found the setup I want. other than marine solutions what other places can I check out that may be helpful??

I know you say you are new at this and that is why you don't want to start from scratch but to me that is more the reason to start from scratch. The amount of information I learned from setting up everything from scratch was invaluable.

One thing that was nice about not having a setup full of fish and coral from the start was if I screwed something up which of course I did many times, I did not kill a tank full of living animals much less waste all that money. Luckily the first time I messed with Kalk, there was not much in the tank so that when I spike the PH I was able to pull out the few corals I had until I was able to restabalize the tank. My poor toadstool looked pretty shabby for a month or two after that incident.

Also as I added each piece of new equipment I was able to see the difference it was making to my system overall and was able to form my own opinion about it and whether it was worth it or not.

I am not saying don't do it. I just wanted to give you something to think about.

Good Luck in your endevours and remember we are always here to help with any questions you may have in the future.

I agree with super. It is very benificial to setup your own tank and not buy a mature system, you learn alot in those first few months about water quality, equipment, etc. Also, as you purchase fish and corals you get to learn their dietary, flow and lighting needs. Unless you catch a heck of a deal online for a already setup system, starting from scratch is the best way to go for long term sucess. There or plenty of Good people online that are more than willing to help you get going.
