WTB - Overflow

Hey All

Its for a friend who's just discovered MARS. He has a new baby and is on a tight budget so I'm guessing he's going for the free one.

TIA John - I owe you.

Alvin, you out there?

Brian

Hi Brian =)

Hi Brian =)

Hi Brian and MARS members,

Sorry for the delay, Christmas has been very busy =)

I am glad to see that there are offers, and as Brian said, I am on a tight budget, I never knew babies were so expensive haha. So most likely I would prefer the free one, but if you feel the others are worth the money, I don't mind spending a bit, IF it is really necessary.

I'm not really sure how this process works, so if someone can guide me through that would be great haha.

Oh yah, I will take pictures of my tank today Brian and the dimensions. I just remembered as I was typing.

Thanks again for everything, and I am glad that I found out about MARS =)

Back to "work" I go haha.

Hello Alvin_Reef,

Welcome to MARS, and Reef Central.

There are two basic designs for over the top overflows. the U tube design and the weir design. Both work, but the U tube seems to be the less desirable. I need to pick up a new nylon nut and bolt that hold the two sides together, but you are welcome to the U tube one I have. On this point I would say save your money for lighting, and other equipment.

Best of luck,

John

Hey Alvin

I found some buckets that would allow you to install a remote deep sand bed without a sump. I still think the macro agae is your best bet for quick nitrate removal if it isn't too high. In either case, I would get the equipment to install a sump. They simplify a lot of things.

Hey John

Thanks for helping. TTYL
