WTB: Quarantined Tang

So, as I've discussed here and there, I'm running a limited system in my basement until I can finish the upstairs and buy my big DT.

I've pretty much held off on buying fish until I get the DT up and going, and then I'll want to QT fish before adding them- unlike my last system. (Not sure on exact logistics of how to best QT yet... but I have time to read and discuss).

In the meantime, I'm getting some medium algae growth in the frag tank that I'd like to keep in check. Since I don't have a QT system going yet, I thought it might be safe to buy a tang from someone who knows it's clean. I just say no to crabs (except in my dedicated invert nano), and I don't want snails knocking things over. A tang comes to mind...

Anyone in the Syracuse area have one to let me borrow, or purchase?

Thanks for the tip. I've seen Diver'sDen before but never paid attention to how it was different from other suppliers. Is it too good to be true that they quarantine and watch all the fish that go through and individually approve them for shipment? Is there any other online vendor that does that? Seems like a fantastic place to buy from.

I know a few people who keep a tang in their frag tank for this purpose. Unless I'm mistaken...

I would recommend a yellow tang for algae control. They are pretty hardy.

Now, be careful getting a fish that someone "knows" is clean. I have 4 fish in my tank that looked perfectly healthy when I got them, but without QT they went through a couple bouts of ich. From what I've read, this means that ich is probably still in my system, but just surviving at a very low level. I think many people have ich in their system and don't know it. What I'm saying is if you want to be sure, QT ANY fish you get, even if you think they're clean. Look up the transfer method - it seems to be the most elegant approach. Or, if you're like me, don't worry about it.
