Yeah i typically don't like Rio or use them but this is perfect size for my small sump.

Anyone have an extra they don't want, want to sell?

Thanks,

Davey

Why? Rio pumps are junk.

I've had more Rio pumps/powerheads burn up than _any_ other brand -- even more than the junkiest of junk -- Jebo, Odyssea, and Lifetech.

Seems that the impeller can easily get jammed up and vibrate (sometimes takes a while to notice) causing heat damage and possibly heating the tank water to a dangerous level.

Just my opinion. I hope TAAM isn't an RC sponsor.

I used to like them until I used two of the big boy SEIO's w/ a wavemaker -- which burned up both impellers in less than a week.

Hehehe ... Catalina products are funny.

This is funny. Ask Paul B; I used to defend Rios until I had one burn up in my salt mixing barrel about 3 months ago. It happened to be a 1700, but I digress.

I don't know why they have problems or if the number of issues are improportionaly reported, but I've been a victim now too.

That said, seios are great. I still swear by them, and Koralias.

BTW - Seios are not designed for wavemakers, except the Rio.

yeah i love my seios i have them and koralias i prefer seio just cause they push alot of water. bo9th are great

koralias/hydor customer service is top notch

You guys seen the new pump by TAAM? I want to see if anyone locally has one.

No thank you. I will wait on more responses rather than finding out the hard way....

Actually there lighting hoods (not bulbs) and retro's are all made in the USA and they use Workhorse Ballast for most of the PC and T5 hoods. There new electronic ballast are also made in the USA. All of there Reef lighting comes with a 1 year replacement warranty as well.
None of there pumps state Made in USA that I am aware of.

They also only have one person of Asian decent that assembles the lighting hoods. The main guy that assembles them can build his own PC with his eyes shut and could probably re wire a 747 if he wanted to.

Just about 90% of the equipment we use is either made overseas or made with overseas parts. Don't let the american names like Hamilton and such fool ya ;)

I just got a Catalina T5 2x24 hood for my 28 gallon tank. I could not be happier i really like it and they also use individual reflectors
