Will be looking to buy some LR soon, i have a 12G nanocube so I'll prolly be looking for 10lbs. And can anyone recommend a LFS to get salt/water/sand from? looking for premixxed water if possible as i dont have a RO/DI, i have heard grocery store water works... advice for a first timer would be wonderful! thanks Alex.

Ocean Direct has some of the cheapest live rock.....but other stores like Sea in The City, for example have Tonga Branch rock and other forms. You might go window shopping for a day or two and see what you would prefer to look at

I am recommending either Ocean Direct or Reef Works. You can get LR, the sand, and the water from both of those stores for good prices. You can get either salt water or just ro/di from both of them too. I tend to stay away from grocery store water. I had a horrible algae bloom from using it.

Sounds good, I'll most likely be buying my LR and sand from one of them as thats two recommendations. Do you prefer mixing your own water? or buying pre-mixed.. being my first tank i was leaning towards getting pre-mixed... Thanks!

You can use premixed water, but in the long run you will save more money by buying a ro/di and mixing yourself.

and if you do that you can get higher end salts. i like reef crystals
