i need better lighting but they are so expensive if anybody has any they arent using or MH for kinda cheep send me a PM and let me know

I love the T5 TEK fixture I have over my 90 and I think you'll love T5's. What sizes, how many bulbs, fixture/retrofit, etc. are you looking for? I can't help you with a pair, but I have been constantly trolling the drygoods forum for some 24" retrofits (at least 4, maybe 6) to light my 92 corner bow. I can keep an eye out.

im not sure if you have a canopy or would consider buying one but angela here in the forum has a dual 175 watt metal halide retrofit with bulbs ready to go for i think 150 bucks. that is a slammin deal that you wont find often. dont get me wrong, im VERY impressed with brian and jacks t5 setups ive seen but i love my halides :) <~~~steve

Thanks for the light plug turboex901! :) The only reason I like the MH's better is the light ripples it has in the aquarium you do not get with a tube style bulb. Mh's give off much more heat but I have tryed to stay low enouph on my bulb wattage in my tanks to have halides and get the ripple look also. I have a single 175 over a 29 also. Pretty lame excuse to go all halides because the T5's give off great bright light but its a personal preferance.

ill be honest, i was skeptical about t5's at first but seeing 2 members tanks here and the sps that are THRIVING under the lights im a believer now too. on the other hand the shimmer lines of MH are to gorgeous to not have imo. i think bob fenner did a recent study that i was reading stating that the "ripples" are actually shadows and the effect creates an environment where the corals get blasted with "waves" of intense light then darker then intense over and over again. he suspects the difference in light stimulates the corals to increase their metabolic rate/growth. that would be cool if thats the case! im a MH guy through and through.....or atleast until i see this solaris from pfo on saturday. i have a feeling i may get into trouble with the wife after i visit their booth!:)<~~~steve
