i just got a 48" current nova extreme t5 fixture from dr foster and smith for $200. it way outperformed the aquatraders/odyssea fixture i had before. i would definately recommend it if you want to keep corals with t5's. if you just want it for a fowlr tank then you could save $100 and go with the aquatraders light.

one note about that aquatraders light, even thought it's the same watts at the current fixture, the bulbs are a very strange t6, not t5, so unless you retrofit the fixture, you're stuck with crappy odyssea bulbs.

do you keep sps and clams with the nova? my tank size 72L x 18w x 22h.

i am working my way up to the sps, i just got my first lps and it seams to be doing good. this is in a 33gal long though, it is only a foot deep. i think pretty much everybody is going to tell you that you need MH if you want to keep sps, but i'm eventually going to give it a shot in my tank.

i'd say if you water is good enough, and you feed good enough, and you can get them right up to the water surface directly below the light, then it's worth a shot, but that's coming from a person who hasn't tried it yet.

Nah, there are plenty of stunning SPS tanks lit only with T5s. You should be able to keep a fairly wide variety of SPS with your tank/lighting. I think 33 long is a great size too.

it's good to hear you say that. i may try to pick some up at the frag swap/auction. and i agree on the 33 long, i could have gotten a 55 for less but i love the dimensions of the 33 long.
